Heart attack Diagnosis

In this article, you will find various techniques and tests carried out in the diagnosis of heart disease which are very important during heart treatment in an attempt to reverse heart disease.

It is important to learn about the different types of techniques used in  the diagnosis of heart disease because the tests play a major role in the determination of the exact condition of the heart. This can then be used to formulate ways of reducing the heart disease risk factors.

There are several risk factors of heart disease and if not prevented they can lead to severe heart conditions. Doctors use different methods to diagnosis heart disease so as to know the exact condition of your heart. The first that will be done is to take your medical history and then perform physical examination. This will then be followed by checking several risk factors high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol levels, etc. The doctor can then examine your heartbeat rate and the functioning of other body organs like the lungs, kidneys, heart itself, abdomen, legs, etc.

During the diagnosis process, the following tests are carried out:

Blood tests: the doctor will take samples of your blood to check whether the kidneys are functioning properly or have a problem.

Cholesterol test: the doctor will test for the level of cholesterols in the body. High levels of bad cholesterol are a risk factor hence the cholesterols need to be regulated.

Blood pressure: high blood pressure is among the most common risk factors of heart disease thus the doctor will check the level of blood pressure so as to regulate it in case it is too high.

Electrocardiogram (ECG): electrodes will be connected to your skin and electrical conductivity of your heart recorded and displayed on the monitor inform of waves. The test is used by doctors to diagnose a heart with rhythmic problems.

Echocardiogram: the test uses sound waves to give a video image of your heart. The test helps doctors to know the amount of blood pumped out of your heart for every heartbeat.

Chest X-ray: the chest X-ray images will help the doctor to see the actual condition of your heart and lungs. If you have a heart failure, your heart may appear enlarged and some fluid may appear to have built up in your lungs.

Stress test: stress is a major risk factor for heart disease thus it is necessary to be tested. This test is used to determine how your heart and blood vessels respond to exercise. This can be done when you are exercising with an attached ECG machine on your body or you may be given some drugs that will stimulate your heart to similar conditions as those of when exercising. The test enables the doctor to see the behavior of the heart when exercising.

CT (Computed Technology) heart scan: it is used to visualize the heart’s anatomy.

Heart MRI: It is used by doctors to see the performance of the heart from the outside.

Electrophysiology test: it is a test that measures the heart rhythm

Coronary angiography: this is the test that is used to evaluate the heart arteries’ functioning. It is also called arteriography.

All these tests are helpful in diagnosis of heart disease and they help in determining the treatment method to be used.
