Heart assessments that bridge the gap in our healthcare system. Going to your family doctor is a start, but unfortunately, they lack essential tools to determine heart attack and stroke risk.

Cardiologists are great, but they are only looking for advanced stages of heart disease.

The Heart Fit Clinic bridges this important gap, helping you prevent and reverse heart disease. If you have heart disease, then we would love to treat this and keep track of your disease progress.

Getting angiograms is invasive and should only be done when you have an emergency. Stress tests are only looking for advanced stages of disease.

Let us look at the heart and artery like a muscle, as it is not a plumbing problem.

Key Inflammatory Markers

Measure pulse wave analysis and artery stiffness. We also look at the blood pressure at the level of the heart (central blood pressure). Learn more.

Key Inflammatory Markers

83% of heart attacks and strokes occur with people with normal cholesterol. Many people think cholesterols accumulates to the artery wall. So if you have normal cholesterol, you are all good (not true). And if you have high cholesterol, you are all good because you are taking a cholesterol lowering drug (not true).

Size matters. Cholesterol comes in different sizes. The artery is

protected by the endothelium. You can be told you have normal cholesterol yet you have a lot more smaller ones therefore more dangerous and can easily get inside the endothelium.

OR you can be told you have high cholesterol with larger particles which would not get through the endothelium.

Do you have high cholesterol or are you taking a statin?

Infection & Immune Response

Imagine a cholesterol like a sliver. And we now know that the inner lining of the artery wall is all skin called the endothelium. If a sliver, slivers into the lining of the skin and you are not able to get it out with tweezers, this triggers an infection and immune response.

The same thing happens inside the artery wall and this is the phase where we can see where your risk is of a heart attack or stroke in the next 5 years. Giving us time to make the necessary changes to reverse this process.

FAQs

What is the Heart Fit Clinic?

Do I need heart problems to come to the Heart Fit Clinic?

No. Heart disease is the number one cause of death of men and women in Canada, but it is also the number one preventable disease.

Who comes to the Heart Fit Clinic?

People concerned about their heart health. People who have risk factors for chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke or diabetes.

People with heart problems such as heart disease, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, congestive heart failure or heart rhythm problems (atrial fibrillation or flutter, patients treated with a pacemaker or implantable cardiac defibrillator).

What is the difference between the Total Cardiology rehab (cardiac wellness instutute) & the Heart Fit Clinic?

Both clinics are private clinics and offer reputable cardiac rehabilitation programs. Total Cardiology is a co-funded program ($500 cost), meaning that they receive funds from the government to conduct their program.

This structure forces them to see many people a year with group exercise classes with reduced individual attention. The exercise classes are limited scheduling twice weekly. To qualify for this program you must have diagnosed heart disease, and the program cannot be repeated without evidence of another cardiovascular event (i.e. heart attack).

The Heart Fit Clinic is not funded, allowing us to give the individual attention people deserve and assist them to reach their cardiovascular goals. The Heart Fit Clinic offers flexible scheduling from 7am to 7pm and is open Monday to Saturday.

In addition to our cardiac rehabilitation and maintenance programs, the Heart Fit Clinic has a unique and highly regarded cardiac prevention program. We also offer individual guidance regarding supplements, medications and conventional and traditional therapies.

Combining the best of traditional and conventional cardiology so you can live longer.

Please refer to our patient testimonials.

Family doctors realize that they do not have the time resource to address all your risk factors to heart disease and go over in detail all the lifestyle modification strategies to reduce or reverse your risk of heart disease.
